Senior Azure Data Integration Engineer
π Home based with one day per month in the London office
Company & role
This role sits within the CTO Office of a global IT managed services provider that is investing in its data and analytics capability. Reporting to the Head of Data and Analytics, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable data integrations that move data reliably across the business, underpinning analytics, reporting and wider transformation work.
Azure Logic Apps is at the heart of this role, alongside a broad Azure data and integration stack. You will design, build and optimise integration workflows, ensure governance and quality throughout, and drive continuous improvement in how the team builds and deploys. There is also a mentoring element, supporting more junior engineers and helping uphold strong engineering standards, with scope to grow towards line management over time.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Almost fully remote setup with only one day a month required in London
- A senior, technical lead role with real ownership of the integration landscape, not a cog in a large team
- Strong Azure data stack with Logic Apps, Fabric and modern PaaS services, plenty of current, in demand technology
- Genuine influence over engineering standards, best practice and tooling as the function matures
- Mentoring and technical leadership now, with a clear path towards line management for those who want it
- Sits within the CTO Office of a global business, giving visibility and a seat at the table as the data capability grows
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable, robust data integrations using Azure Logic Apps, Storage Accounts, API Management, Microsoft Fabric and other Azure services
- Implement integration patterns including event driven workflows, API based integrations and scheduled orchestrations
- Ensure high availability, scalability and security across all integration workflows
- Collaborate with IT teams and system users to understand requirements and ensure data accessibility and integrity
- Monitor integration solutions, troubleshoot failures and proactively improve reliability
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, driving adoption of best practice and emerging Azure integration technologies
- Support DevOps processes using Azure DevOps for CI CD automation, version control and deployment of Azure resources
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members, upholding strong engineering standards
- Ensure data security and compliance with standards and regulations such as GDPR
- Document data processes and workflows for both technical and non technical audiences
Ideal Experience
- Strong Azure data engineering background, with several years across data integration, automation or data engineering roles
- Hands on experience with Azure Logic Apps is essential, though strong Power Automate experience will also be considered
- Experience developing analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric is highly desirable, or comparable Azure PaaS services such as Azure Data Factory or Synapse
- Strong experience across Azure services including Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Azure Functions and API Management
- Experience building and deploying Azure solutions through Azure DevOps pipelines and ARM, Bicep or Terraform templates
- Proficiency with REST APIs, authentication methods such as OAuth and Managed Identities, and system to system integration patterns
- Knowledge of data modelling techniques and best practice
- A proven record of mentoring junior team members, with a desire to take on line management in future
- Experience with Purview and Power BI is desirable but not essential
- Relevant certifications are a bonus, such as DP 203 Azure Data Engineer, DP 600 Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, AZ 900 Azure Fundamentals and DP 900 Azure Data Fundamentals
- Strong problem solving skills with attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues
- Excellent communicator, able to work across teams to deliver solutions that meet business needs
