Senior Data Integration Engineer (Logic Apps, Azure, Fabric)

πŸ’° Β£65,000 to Β£85,000

πŸ“ Hybrid and flexible, home based with around one day a fortnight/month in London

Company & role

This role sits with a global IT services and managed services provider working with enterprise customers across financial services, telecoms and the public sector in the UK and internationally. The hire is for their own internal Data and Analytics function rather than a client facing delivery team, so the work is about building and improving the data estate the business itself runs on.

They have invested in their analytics capability and are now strengthening the integration layer that feeds it. This is an integration engineering role at its core, owning the pipelines and automations that move data between business systems, built on Azure Logic Apps and the surrounding Azure services, with Microsoft Fabric as the analytics destination. As the senior engineer in that space you will own integration design and standards end to end, and bring on the more junior members of the team.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • An internal role, so you build and keep improving something you live with rather than handing it over at the end of a project
  • Genuine ownership of the integration layer across the business, including patterns, standards, reliability and governance
  • Integration work that feeds a modern Fabric and Azure analytics stack, so you see where the data lands and what it is actually used for
  • Freedom to introduce better approaches where the current ones are showing their age
  • Technical leadership and mentoring now, with a clear route into line management for someone who wants it
  • Direct working relationship with the Head of Data and Analytics and visibility across the wider business
  • Flexible hybrid set up with only occasional time needed in London

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain scalable, resilient integrations using Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, API Management and Storage Accounts
  • Implement integration patterns including event driven workflows, API based integrations and scheduled orchestrations
  • Monitor integration workflows, troubleshoot failures and proactively improve reliability, performance and security
  • Build and support analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric and related Azure data services
  • Work with stakeholders across IT and the wider business to understand requirements and keep data accessible and accurate
  • Support CI CD and deployment through Azure DevOps pipelines and infrastructure as code
  • Make sure integrations meet data protection and compliance requirements, including GDPR
  • Mentor junior engineers and help raise engineering standards across the team
  • Document processes and workflows for both technical and non technical audiences

Ideal Experience

  • Strong hands on experience with Azure Logic Apps, ideally three years or more. This is the core of the role. Power Automate experience will also be considered
  • Around five years in integration, data engineering or automation roles overall
  • Confident with REST APIs, authentication methods such as OAuth and managed identities, and system to system integration patterns
  • Good working knowledge of Azure services such as Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Azure Functions and API Management
  • Deployment experience using Azure DevOps pipelines and ARM, Bicep or Terraform
  • Experience building analytics solutions with Microsoft Fabric, or comparable Azure services such as Data Factory and Synapse
  • Solid understanding of data modelling techniques and good practice
  • A track record of mentoring junior engineers, with an interest in taking on line management in future
  • Purview and Power BI exposure is useful but not essential, as are certifications such as DP 203, DP 600, DP 900 and AZ 900
