Role: Communications and Social Media Manager. Salary: £34,178 - £36,900 per annum. Location: Leeds. Hours: 36 per week. Job type: Permanent. Closing date: 13 October. This role is based in the Royal Armouries’ Brand and Audiences Department and reports to the Head of Marketing and Communications.
The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour, with locations in Leeds, the Tower of London and Fort Nelson (Hampshire). The successful candidate will manage external communications and social media, ensure content is consistent and engaging, and support internal communications where needed.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Royal Armouries’ external communications and social media, ensuring content and messages are consistent and engaging.
- Develop and deliver social media content and communications plans that drive engagement and awareness.
- Liaise with external media to raise brand visibility and work with internal teams on communications needs.
- Provide direction and support to two direct reports on social media content, PR and internal communications.
- Support internal engagement and be flexible in schedule, including filming and media opportunities.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Experience of developing and delivering communications plans, ideally in a cultural or visitor-focused organisation.
- Extensive experience of social media content development and management.
- Experience of media relationship management.
- Line management experience with ability to motivate staff.
- Experience of achieving targets to grow audiences, reach and engagement.
- Current knowledge of the UK arts, heritage and museum sector.
- Strong creative skills for content planning and creation for social media; ability to write copy for the web and PR channels.
- Aptitudes: highly articulate with influencing skills; ability to devise and deliver plans; quick decision-making in changing situations; excellent presentation, verbal and written communication; ability to work with internal teams with different priorities.
