About the job

Responsible for leading a team of technicians, skilled/semi-skilled engineers, apprentices and trainees and ensuring they are fully utilised on customer sites of commercial/industrial refrigerating and air conditioning plant. The Service Manager will also hold P&L responsibility for the successful growth and profitability of the service sales within the given service centre for which they are responsible.

Main Responsibilities

  • Directly lead a team of service engineers/technicians and provide technical assistance where required.
  • To accurately estimate labour cost of maintenance, service & repair work and prepare quotations for customers.
  • To allocate labour primarily, but not limited to, the maintenance customer contract base covered by the Leeds service centre and with specific responsibility for customer satisfaction and financial result.
  • To plan all service work using available records, estimates, drawings and specifications to meet contract requirements.
  • To ensure training for Engineers and Technicians is carried out as necessary.
  • In conjunction with Maintenance Supervisor and General Manager to ensure maximum utilisation of human and material resources, providing engineering support as required.
  • To exercise proper control over work in progress, ensuring speedy job completion as well as ensuring all internal and customer systems are kept up to date at all times with relevant information.
  • To ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is achieved by conducting regular site visits and evidencing such.
  • To ensure that the Company’s technical and safety standards are maintained in accordance with Health & Safety Practices as outlined in the Company Health and Safety procedures and to make recommendations for improvements as necessary as well as the reporting of accidents.
  • Responsible for the authorisation of timesheets and expenses for input and that this information is reflected on sales invoices.
  • To perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Experience

  • Previous management experience in a service industry.
  • Experience of operating the P&L account for a business or service centre.
  • Substantial practical experience with all aspects of refrigeration and air conditioning, both mechanical and electrical, preferred.
