About the job

Responsible for engineering compliance throughout the business, including developing and executing compliance programs and documentation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all the products placed on the market by the Company comply with regulatory requirements (e.g. UKCA Marking).
  • Implementation and maintenance of compliance programs within J&E Hall, including training and development of other engineers to follow the compliance programs.
  • Responsible for reviewing and producing compliance documentation / technical folders.
  • Collaborate with product development, design and project management teams to review compliance documentation requirements and content for projects and products.
  • Identify and propose solutions for product and Engineering non-compliance issues.
  • Manage processes by isolating and resolving non-compliance issues; recommending product and process changes; initiating Engineering change orders.
  • Research and uphold the regulatory standards that govern the company’s equipment design and supply.
  • Develop compliance plans by researching, analysing, selecting, and applying Engineering compliance concepts, approaches, techniques, and criteria.
  • Maintain a registry of compliance by completing approval applications, preparing investigative reports, preparing and filing Declarations of Conformity / Declarations of Incorporation and maintaining a compliance database.
  • Collate, create and maintain the templates for the design risk assessments in a company standard format.
  • Liaise with customers, regulatory bodies, internal departments and suppliers on matters regarding applicable standards and compliance.
  • Enhance Engineering and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrable skills in process improvement.
  • Great communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with ability to work to tight deadlines whilst managing conflicting priorities.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish, Mandarin or Italian is an advantage, but not essential.

Required Experience

  • Engineering Degree - Production, Mechanical, Chemical or similar discipline, or experience of working in a similar role, 5-10 years post graduate experience.
  • Knowledge of pressure vessels and pressure systems is essential.
  • Knowledge of compressors, pumps and refrigeration would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of CE / UKCA Marking, Machinery Safety Directive / Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, Low-Voltage Directive / Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, EMC Directive / Electromagnetic Compatibility Regulations 2016, Pressure Equipment Directive / Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, ATEX Directive / Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2016, Ecodesign Directive / The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products Regulations and associated implementing measures.
  • Knowledge of UK user statutory requirements PSSR / DSEAR / PUWER would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Manufacturing Quality, Process Improvement.
  • Able to interpret schematic drawings.

About the Business area

Hall Technical Centre are dedicated to the development and technical support of products and systems applied in the fields of refrigeration. Some examples include liquid chillers, compressor packages, land and marine based installations, condensing units, heat-pumps, equipment controllers and system controllers.

Typical activities are:

  • Concept creation in coordination with the Sales and Marketing departments.
  • Product creation by means of piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical and control diagrams, 3d modelling and generation of general arrangement drawings, thermal and mechanical and electrical calculations, creation of bills of materials and literature such as Installation, Operation and Maintenance manuals.
  • Product support during sales stages, execution (fabrication), commissioning, troubleshooting, service, extension and end of life de-commissioning.
