A newly created opportunity has arisen for a Knowledge Assistant to join our Knowledge Services team in Newcastle. Your role will be to assist in the provision of knowledge services to fee earners, where you\’ll be dealing with a wide range of enquiries from basic case law to complex legal research.
It\’s a great opportunity to progress your career in law as you\’ll increase your practical skill set on using key legal databases and company information services, as well as enhancing your knowledge within the legal profession/environment.
What will I be doing
- Adding to our current awareness database and assist with the distribution of information to fee-earners and clients. Primarily your initial focus will be on adding new journal articles once they have become available in full text and have been keyworded.
- Assisting library users with enquiries and providing copies of information as requested.
- Assisting with the delivery of a Knowledge Services Training Programme for Trainees and Fee Earners.
- Conducting legal research using numerous online services, including the key legal databases Westlaw, Practical Law, Lawtel and Lexis+
- Using online business information services for company research, providing documents and reports using Companies House, CRO Info, D&B Onboard and RSM Tracker.
- Shelving and tidying library stock.
You\’ll have
- Ideally have a Law degree or equivalent.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other IT packages.
- The ability to prioritise, work to tight deadlines, and manage your time effectively.
- Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work proactively both independently and as part of a team.
