Cloud Imperium is looking for an enthusiastic and technically minded Principal Mission Designer to work on its ever-expanding Persistent Universe at its UK studio located in the heart of Manchester.

You would be a part of The Mission Feature Team (MFT) made up of designers, a producer and embedded QAs, and is responsible for many aspects of the game, such as creation of the first implementation of new missions to then be handed off to other departments who will leverage them to create further content.

The team is also responsible for the generation of the content for regular in-game events or even the occasional demo.

Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting‑edge videogames that defy expectations. We\’re currently developing Star Citizen, a record‑breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single‑player adventure set in the same universe. What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with Narrative to build engaging stories for missions and locations.
  • Design, document and own features, mechanics, missions, systems, etc. as necessary.
  • Work in various in‑house tools, including Subsumption, a visual scripting editor to create logic for missions, systems, and events.
  • Work closely with various other departments to improve AI, gameplay, mechanics, tools which impact our work or ability to work.

What Are We Looking For

  • Previous industry experience within AAA titles with ownership of major features or missions.
  • Strong understanding of visual scripting or coding fundamentals.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across disciplines.
  • A proactive approach to mentoring peers and guiding junior designers.
  • An ability to develop relationships with other departments.
  • The ability to work with and respect frequent deadlines.
