This is an exciting opportunity for a Systems Designer to join our Vehicle Design team and help push development of Vehicle Systems. Working with the wider Design team you’ll be creating everything you can think of within a Universe, from entire solar systems to the smallest creature in the darkest cave. Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge videogames that defy expectations. We’re currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. What does a Systems Designer at CIG do?

• Liaise with artists, animators, audio, and VFX teams to ensure game systems are integrated with vehicles.

• Collaborate with other Design departments as well as other development teams on feature creation.

• Identify and develop vehicle systems solutions that will not negatively impact other systems or mechanics.

• Explain concepts & features through clear documentation that can be used throughout the development team.

• Balance the Vehicle systems based on data gathered from the game analytics and internal playtests.

• Effectively communicate your vision/ideas between different departments.

What do we expect from our Systems Designer?

• Genuine interest in vehicles and Sci-Fi

• Previous industry experience with ownership of the balancing of gameplay features and systems.

• Excellent sense for design and creating outstanding user experiences.

• Experience with game and systems design including a solid understanding of feedback, controls, usability, balancing, and UI/UX.

• Ability to quickly prototype ideas to showcase their potential.

• Experience in data analysis.

• Skilled communicator, interacting with a cross-disciplinary team effectively and consistently both in person and through text, including documentation.
