As an Audio Programmer in our Manchester Studio you would be advancing the audio technology for a proprietary game engine powering a huge universe, covering the scale of the sound of the movement of a player's clothing all the way to the roar of a capital ship. You will also develop the audio technology that allows sound designers to bring a world to life, and refine the workflow that gives access to it. All of this will be achieved using the latest PC hardware and APIs to produce a fast and scalable suite of audio technology to power some of the most ambitious games ever developed.
What does an Audio Programmer at Cloud Imperium Games do? In short, on a daily basis you will:
- Research and implement new cutting-edge audio technology and tools
- Analyse, refactor and improve upon existing audio technology
- Assist and advise other software developers in the use of audio features, while debugging and fixing problems
- Profile and optimise the entire audio pipeline, including DSP components
- Keep up to date with the latest audio techniques and tools, helping us to innovate, plan, and deliver full features
What do we expect from our Audio Programmers?
- Comfortable working with C++ in a large shared codebase, including testing, code-reviews and source-control
