Senior Solutions Engineer – Infrastructure & Azure
Location: Central London
Working pattern: Hybrid (3 days per week in office)
If you’re the engineer everyone turns to when the straightforward fixes have run out—and you’re ready for more ownership than simply handling the hardest tickets—this opportunity should be worth a look.
We’re working with a fast-growing London-based Managed Services Provider that has built its success around two things: delivering exceptionally high standards for its customers and creating an environment where talented people can do their best work.
The culture is ambitious, collaborative and refreshingly human. Good ideas are listened to, people are trusted to make an impact, and technical development is actively supported rather than simply promised during the interview process.
This is a business that works hard, celebrates success and invests in its people through structured development, funded learning and genuine opportunities to progress.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you’ll become a technical escalation point within the engineering team while taking ownership of complex infrastructure and cloud projects from initial discovery through to successful delivery.
You’ll work directly with customers, lead technical implementations, improve engineering standards and mentor less-experienced colleagues.
The environment is varied and technically broad. One day you could be troubleshooting a complex virtualised server environment; the next, leading an Azure deployment, network upgrade or disaster recovery project.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as a senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure, cloud, networking and security issues.
- Leading infrastructure projects from planning and design through to implementation, documentation and handover.
- Delivering server migrations, virtualisation deployments, Azure solutions and network upgrades.
- Working directly with customers to understand their requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Managing expectations and communicating clearly throughout complex implementations.
- Designing and implementing security solutions across firewalls, endpoints and cloud environments.
- Supporting disaster recovery planning and the implementation of resilient backup solutions.
- Mentoring junior engineers and helping them develop their technical and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Improving engineering standards, processes and technical documentation.
- Producing clear system documentation, performance reports and recommendations for customers.
The Technical Background
You’ll need strong hands‑on experience across the following:
- Windows Server administration, configuration and advanced troubleshooting.
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and WDS.
- Server virtualisation using Hyper-V and/or VMware.
- Microsoft Azure, including Azure AD/Entra ID, Virtual Machines and Storage.
- Backup and disaster recovery technologies such as Veeam, Cove or Acronis.
- Networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, VPNs and LAGs.
- Configuring and managing enterprise firewalls such as Fortinet, Juniper, WatchGuard or Palo Alto.
- Storage platforms such as Dell PowerVault or Synology, including LUNs, RAID and storage pools.
- Endpoint security technologies, ideally Microsoft Defender and/or Sophos.
- Delivering complex server, cloud and network infrastructure projects.
You don’t need to have worked with every product listed above. What matters is that you have strong infrastructure fundamentals, broad technical experience and the ability to take ownership when an issue or project becomes complex.
Who This Will Suit
You may currently be working as a:
- Senior Third-Line Engineer
- Senior Technical Engineer
- Senior Systems Administrator
- Infrastructure Consultant
You MUST have experience working within an MSP or another fast-paced, customer-facing technology environment.
Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who communicates well, remains calm under pressure and takes pride in delivering work properly. You should be comfortable speaking directly with customers, mentoring other engineers and taking accountability for technical outcomes.
If you’re looking for a senior infrastructure role where you can remain hands‑on, own meaningful projects and become a trusted technical leader, we’d be interested in speaking with you.
