Data Center / Network Manager

Who’s it for
We are proud to be partnering with a fast growing Private Equity backed Managed IT Services Provider. An established MSP now into the early stages of their high growth journey to build and expand to a 50M T/O business!
They now need a networking data center manager to oversee the efficient running of their colocation data center.
The Role
- Take ownership of installation projects and liaise with the Networking Solutions team and onboard/commission new customers to the data center.
- Provide day to day management and support of the networking / data center
- Support sales to answer technical questions for new customer proposals
- Assist with the maintenance of monitoring systems to provide alerting
- Pro-active maintenance relating to software and firmware updates of networking equipment
- Provide remote on call where required (approx. 1-2 needs a month but on call payments still remain)
- Manage Datacentres – power management, preparation of racks for new co-lo customers.
- Some basic admin tasks for ISP
What’s needed
- Strong Networking background and understanding of the following technologies
- Layer 2 understanding (ARP, MAC)
- IP Addressing & subnetting
- Spanning Tree
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- VPN Technologies
- IPSEC site to site
- SSLVPN
- Exposure to a range of Firewall vendors such as: Sophos XG, Cisco ASA / Firepower, Watchguard, Fortigate
- Demonstratable skills in managing firewalls and relating technologies such as: Zone based firewalling, NAT, Web, IPS & AV filtering policies, Device / User authentication integration
- Strong Switching skills and multi-vendor exposure
- Cisco IOS
- HP Aruba
- VLAN creation, management and trunking/tagging
- Cabling/connector types
- Wireless installation and support
- Experience with Ubiquiti Unifi and Meraki based deployments
- Understanding of different Internet connectivity types – FTTC/FTTP/Leased Line
- Understanding of Layer 3 routing protocols
- OSPF
- EIGRP
- BGP
- Experience with Windows servers and roles such as AD/DHCP/DNS/NPS
- Experience with Hyper-V / VMWare technologies
Excellent customer facing manner
Full UK Driving license
