About the Role
South Downs Logistics is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily operational performance, optimise supply chain processes, and lead cross-functional teams at our Horsham hub. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, managing departmental budgets, and ensuring strict health and safety compliance across our regional network.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Optimisation: Identify operational bottlenecks and implement lean management practices to increase warehouse and fleet productivity.
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and schedule shift supervisors and warehouse staff, driving engagement and performance across the site.
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Monitor operating costs, negotiate supplier contracts, and manage resource allocation to ensure targets are met within budget.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure full adherence to UK employment legislation, Health & Safety at Work standards, and internal risk assessments.
- Performance Reporting: Track site KPIs, report on operational SLAs to senior management, and implement corrective actions where required.
Requirements & Experience
- Proven track record in an Operations Manager or Depot Manager role (logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety regulations (IOSH or NEBOSH qualification is highly desirable).
- Direct experience managing operational budgets, P&L accounts, and departmental KPIs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Right to work in the UK.

- Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + performance bonus.
