Our client, an international engineering organisation, is now looking to recruit a Mechanical Service Engineer to join their growing team. The ability to work at height is essential! Electrical training can be offered to the right candidate. The successful candidate must be commutable and able to travel between Basingstoke and Guildford and will be home-based unless away. One week in four (approx.) will involve being on call, for which overtime is paid whether called out or not.
The key function of this role is to service the products while developing and maintaining relationships with customers for the provision of helpful first line technical support.
Key Objectives:- Maximise the quality of service support to our customers in line with reasonable expectations.
- Maximise opportunities for the sale of spares and service activities in line with the overall objectives of the business.
- To give a fast and efficient service to customers for breakdown and routine service visits and to train operators and maintenance personnel in the correct function of the systems.
- A sound mechanical engineering background, ideally some electrical experience.
- PLC skills or some PLC literacy would be a distinct advantage.
- Ability to recognise, understand and resolve customers' problems and support them in a professional manner as an ambassador for the company.
- Ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally to achieve the after market sales and service objectives of the company and the reasonable expectation of our customers' requirements.
- Ability to work in a team or alone and use own initiative when away from base at customers' site.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Extensive product knowledge (this will be developed with experience).
