Join the Close Brothers Credit Risk Team where you will develop and implement the strategy for Collections and Recoveries across the Bank, ensuring that the portfolios are effectively and proactively managed within the credit risk appetite and current regulatory requirements, with a key focus on Customer Outcomes. Working as part of the Collections and Recoveries Shared Service team our ideal team member will have previous experience in providing support and advice to businesses for specific case management, ad‑hoc collections queries and legal recovery matters with excellent customer service and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide robust challenge and oversight to the Customer Support and Collections Team on exposure strategies.
- Attend the Watchlist and Arrears Management forums for qualifying collections and emerging risk exposures ensuring risks are appropriately considered, strategies agreed including appropriate forbearance offerings.
- Provide input to the development, implementation and ongoing management of credit risk strategies and frameworks across the Bank, key to ensuring alignment and compliance with our regulatory requirements as well as business and group policies.
- Manage Collections and Recoveries Policies and Standards across the Bank and associated processes ensuring they remain fit for purpose, aligned with acceptable practices and evolving in line with changing regulation.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Litigation and Recoveries Team.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Work with Third Party Management, and other teams where appropriate, to demonstrate governance and oversight of third parties used to support collections and recoveries activities.

As a line manager, you will be responsible for inspiring and motivating your team, as well as developing performance through coaching. You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Extensive knowledge of Collections and Recoveries practices and processes, including Insolvency law, gained through substantial experience in a Financial Services Organisation(s).
- Expert knowledge of Collections and Recoveries KPIs, policies, processes and controls.
- Experience of leading and managing a team, including remote locations.
- Good understanding of the respective Bank businesses.
It is not essential but it would be great if you have:
- Knowledge and experience in other risk disciplines (credit, operational, fraud, regulatory).
- A good level of understanding of the products and services offered across the Bank and positioning within the competitive marketplace.
