Join the Close Brothers Finance Team where you will be responsible for deputising the Head of Product Control & Hedge Accounting as required, providing part-time cover for product control, and closely collaborating with the hedge accountant. Working as part of the Finance team our ideal team member will have previous experience in collaborating with and influencing others (including senior stakeholders) across functional and geographic boundaries with excellent commitment to meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities- Act as the point of contact for senior management, auditors, and other stakeholders, representing the department in meetings and discussions as needed.
- Assist in managing and delivering projects related to product control and hedge accounting, ensuring alignment with the bank’s strategic objectives.
- Monitor and validate the valuation of Treasury front office positions, ensuring they are correctly reflected in the financial statements. Assist in the assessment of market risks and their impact on P&L, report risk limits and escalate breaches.
- Support the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including the preparation of financial reports, Regulatory reports, variance analysis, and commentary on key drivers.
- Assist the hedge accountant in maintaining accurate hedge documentation, ensuring compliance with IAS 39/IFRS 9 or equivalent standards.
- Support the preparation and execution of hedge effectiveness testing, including quantitative assessments and analysis.
As a line manager, you will be responsible for inspiring and motivating your team, as well as developing performance through coaching. You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.
Requirements- Accounting qualifications
- Understanding of Hedge Accounting under IAS39 and IFRS9
- A comprehensive knowledge of financial instruments - mechanics of their operation, complex valuation calculations and in what situations these will be used - ideally practical rather than only theoretical
- Prioritise and deal with a wide range of business as usual and development activities at the same time.
- Take ownership for resolving issues with minimal managers input - escalate issues, break-down and suggest solutions to complex problems using logic and sound reasoning
- A desire to find and implement improvements.
- Be a self-starter and able to run with projects independently.
- Extended industry experience in the application of Hedge Accounting
- Experience with SAP general ledger
- Experience with Bloomberg
- Experience with FIS Treasury management system
