Join Close Brothers Treasury division where you will be responsible for leading the Balance Sheet Management team who look after the Close Brothers balance sheet, including interest rate risk in the banking book, liquidity and funding. The role holder will manage the team’s responsibilities for the transfer of risks from the business to Treasury and the central hedging programmes, such as structural hedging, and ensuring that the bank operates within its risk appetites for funding, liquidity and interest rate risk.
Responsibilities
- Business Performance: Create and own the strategic plan for the Balance Sheet Management team, including agreeing funding, resource needs and delivery timelines with the Group Treasurer and Senior Management. Lead the function to deliver the funding and liquidity requirements, including daily liquidity, long‑term funding plans and the ILAAP. Work with the liquidity and funding lead to improve current methodologies and fully embed NSFR and LCR into the bank’s approaches. Manage the ALM function, working with the business to centralise all interest rate risks into Treasury and work closely with Senior Management to implement hedging programmes such as structural hedging, reserve hedging and funds transfer pricing on liabilities.
- People: Set the tone within the function/business by encouraging an inclusive culture and role‑modeling the company values and expected behaviours. Be responsible for the recruitment, selection, development, reward, talent and succession planning of the team. Developing Our People: as a line manager, you will be responsible for inspiring and motivating your team, as well as developing performance through coaching. You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.
Required Skills/Experience
- Experience in ALM, BSM, IRRBB or Liquidity within retail banking.
- The ability to quickly establish strong working relationships with business, Treasury, Finance and Risk managers across the Group.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to deliver objectives and drive through change, motivating others to act based on analysis to bring about a significant positive impact on the Company's performance.
- Capability to help shape the business agenda.
- Confident in thinking strategically.
- Strong influencing and presentation skills, including up to Board level.
- Ability to assimilate complex documentation.
- Capable of developing and leading teams with an aptitude and ability to make things happen.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in a finance or mathematical based subject.
- ACT / CIMA / CFA / MBA / other appropriate qualification.
