Responsibilities

  • The Sales Manager is responsible for delivering commercial sales growth by the day-to-day supervision, coaching and performance management of a team of Sales Account Managers, ensuring they consistently deliver our value proposition to dealer partners.
  • The role focuses on generating sales growth, enabling strong execution, improving capability and maintaining high standards of activity, conduct and outcomes.
  • Creating a coaching culture, providing regular, structured coaching to improve the quality and effectiveness of dealer interactions.
  • Reinforcing clear standards for value led insight driven engagement.
  • Supporting Account Managers to translate products, services and insight into practical dealer value.
  • Call observing, reviewing and feeding back on real dealer activity to improve consistency and confidence.
  • Using data, MI and CRM insight to focus effort, address performance gaps and recognise good practice.

Performance Coaching & Execution

  • Use sales, activity and quality data to identify performance gaps and coaching priorities.
  • Support Inside Sales Account Managers to plan territory activity effectively and stay focused on value adding work.
  • Support improvement in proposal quality, conversion and dealer engagement.
  • Monitor delivery against agreed targets and service standards, taking corrective action where required.
  • Ensure Direct Sales Account Managers maintain a clear focus on delivering dealer value, not just activity.
  • Support complex dealer situations or conversations alongside Inside Sales Account Managers when needed.
  • Reinforce consistent messaging aligned to appetite, policy and propositions.

People

  • Lead a high performing, engaged team, and sponsor people initiatives within the team.
  • Set the tone within the function/business by encouraging an inclusive culture and role modelling the company values and expected behaviours.
  • Manage the recruitment, development, reward and talent & succession planning of the team.
  • Role model the value of diversity in building high performing teams.
  • Establish an effective communication and feedback framework to ensure messages are effectively disseminated throughout the function.
  • Support sustainable growth through sponsoring career development and robust talent & succession planning.

We would love to hear from you if you have/are:

  • Experience supervising or leading an internal or field-based sales function.
  • Strong coaching and feedback skills with a practical, supportive approach.
  • Ability to manage performance through data, observation and regular dialogue.
  • Good understanding of structured sales and relationship management practices.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working closely with people.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and performance data.

It is not essential but it would be great if you have:

  • Experience within motor finance, automotive or regulated financial services.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and conduct requirements.
  • Experience supporting new starters or developing early career colleagues.
