Join the Close Brothers Commercial division in this high-profile role supporting the delivery of key business objectives through strategic and tactical change. You will operate with pace and autonomy, working closely with senior stakeholders and building credibility and influence from the outset.
With a primary focus on the Asset Finance businesses, the Business Initiatives Manager will develop a strong understanding of our products and processes, and take end-to-end ownership of initiatives, from concept through to implementation. To succeed, you will bring strong experience in non-IT change, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to build effective relationships at all levels, including executive and board stakeholders. The role can be based in Manchester, London or Glasgow, with collaboration across all locations and occasional travel.
Responsibilities
- Delivery of ad-hoc research, data-gathering, analysis and tasks for the Commercial Bank
- Coordination of tasks and initiatives to help deliver on the Commercial Bank Strategy; working with teams within both Asset Finance (CBAF), Invoice Finance and the wider divisions within the Bank and Close Brothers Group
- Planning, oversight and delivery of strategic and other business initiatives or projects, to ensure they achieve their goals and deliver their planned benefits
- Monitor timelines and progress of activities and actions to achieve project milestones
- Define and agree roles and responsibilities and governance mechanisms for new initiatives and changes to existing processes
- Identify and make recommendations for new business initiatives and operational efficiency improvements
Product
- Work with business stakeholders to support proposition design, approval, and delivery in line with the Product and Services standards, ensuring product adherence to governance standard
Data Analysis
- Perform analysis on target processes to isolate problem areas, define and implement the key opportunities for change
- Utilise data and data analysis techniques to drive informed decision making.
- Summarise the findings and insight from data analysis in reporting for the senior management team
Developing Our People
As a line manager, you will be responsible for inspiring and motivating your team, as well as developing performance through coaching. You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.

- Experience driving non-IT change and initiatives from concept through to delivery.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, frequent change, fast paced execution and unpredictability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to analyse, manipulate and present insights from a range of data sources
- The ability to plan, manage and prioritise a high volume of work requests, working to tight timescales or conflicting deadlines whilst maintaining quality
- Strong stakeholder management capability, with proven facilitation, collaboration, negotiation and presentation skills
Nice to have
- Experience in working for a consulting organisation to deliver operational and non-technology-led change
- Experience of creating suites of management information and easy to understand dashboards and presentations
- Data visualisation skillset
- Lean or Operational Excellence experience
