We are recruiting for the following position for our Durham office. Type: Full Time/Permanent

ROLE PROFILE – AUDIT & ACCOUNTS ASSOCIATE (TRAINEE)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare accounts using modern systems like Sage, Xero and QuickBooks
  • Support onsite audits as part of the audit team, learning from experienced colleagues
  • Draft corporation tax computations and assist with client queries
  • Review and action points raised by managers and tax colleagues
  • Act as a point of contact for clients on ad‑hoc matters
  • Visit clients across the region and build strong professional relationships

What we’re looking for:

  • We value enthusiasm and potential – not just experience
  • AAT Level 3/4, or a degree, or 2 A Levels at A*‑C (or equivalent)
  • Willingness to learn and ambition to build a career in accountancy
  • Strong communication skills – confident with clients face‑to‑face, on the phone and by email
  • Good IT (Excel is your friend)
  • Eye for detail and ability to check work thoroughly
  • Proactive problem solver with good organisational skills
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to travel to client sites

Nice to have:

  • Relevant accounts or audit experience
  • Familiarity with accountancy software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Iris)
