We are recruiting for the following position for our Durham office.

ROLE PROFILE – AUDIT SENIOR

As an Audit Senior at Clive Owen LLP, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality audits for a diverse portfolio of clients. This role goes beyond compliance—it’s an opportunity to influence audit quality, mentor junior team members, and contribute to a forward‑thinking, technology‑driven audit function. You’ll collaborate with experienced colleagues and help shape how we deliver an exceptional client experience.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage and deliver statutory audits from planning through to completion, including leading on‑site audit teams where required.
  • Use digital audit tools and systems to drive efficiency, accuracy, and insight across engagements.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing clear communication and supporting them with audit‑related queries.
  • Review work completed by junior team members and offer guidance, coaching and feedback to support their development.
  • Collaborate closely with managers, senior managers and partners to ensure high‑quality audit delivery.
  • Complete assignments in line with internal quality standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental discussions, contributing ideas to enhance audit processes and team performance.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge through ongoing CPD.
  • Attend client sites predominantly across the North‑East and Yorkshire.

Person Specification

  • ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Experience working with owner‑managed businesses and SMEs.
  • Strong experience delivering or leading audits.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, confident with clients across all formats.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong IT capability, including Excel and audit‑related software.
  • Proactive problem‑solver with the ability to use initiative.
  • Ability to travel to client sites as required.
  • Experience with software such as Sage, QuickBooks Online, and Xero.
  • Sector experience including charities, academies or legal practices.
  • Experience with Iris, Caseware or MyWorkPapers

  • Communication – delivers clear, confident written and verbal communication tailored to the audience.
  • Technical Expertise – applies strong audit and accounting knowledge, using technology to enhance quality.
