We are recruiting for the following position for our Middlesbrough office.

As an Audit Assistant Manager at Clive Owen LLP, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality audits to a diverse and growing portfolio of clients. What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring delivery meets regulatory and firm standards.
  • Plan audits effectively, identifying key risks and tailoring audit approaches accordingly.
  • Manage and support on-site audit teams, including allocating work, reviewing output, and providing coaching and feedback.
  • Work closely with managers, senior managers and partners to ensure a high-quality client experience.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and provide practical, commercial advice.
  • Use audit technology and digital tools to drive efficiency and enhance audit quality.
  • Ensure audit files, working papers and financial statements are prepared to a high standard.
  • Monitor progress against budgets and deadlines, ensuring assignments are delivered on time.
  • Support and develop junior team members, contributing to appraisals and ongoing development.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and ways of working.
  • Attend client sites and represent the firm professionally at meetings and events.

Person Specification:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified with recent audit experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and audit standards.
  • Experience leading audit assignments from planning to completion.
  • Experience supervising or supporting junior team members.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with clients.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality client service.
  • Ability to travel to client sites when required.
  • Experience with audit and accounting software such as Caseware, Iris, or Brightworkpapers.
  • Exposure to a range of sectors, including charities or legal firms.
  • Leadership & People Management – supports, develops and motivates others to perform at their best.
