Reports to Crew Leader and Area Supervisor.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Crew Leader and/or Area Supervisor, the Sidewalks Crew Member provides services to commercial customers by properly and timely executing snow removal functions during winter months. The position requires working on-call with irregular hours between mid-November and end-of-March, with short notice, using a variety of tools and equipment.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • On-call/standby 24/7 for snow and ice events.
  • Maintain exceptional attendance and reliability.
  • Own transportation to reach job sites.
  • Work under pressure, pay attention to detail, cooperate with team members.
  • Clear and maintain walkways, outdoor staircases, and parking lots by shoveling, using snowplow equipment, and hand salting.
  • Clear and/or pile snow in designated approved locations only.
  • Perform physical work duties for extended periods.
  • Offer professional and friendly service.
  • Document and report obstacles, hazards, and snow and ice control problems at sites.
  • Follow Health & Safety regulations, including safe equipment operation, routine checks, and wearing required PPE.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Key skills include physical stamina, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and a strong focus on safety.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred: required licenses, clean driver abstract, reliability clearance.

Work Experience Requirements: Work experience required: 1 year (asset). Job-related experience required: 1 year (asset).

Physical Demands & Work Environment: Flexible and long working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to lift or move up to fifty pounds. Work outdoors in various weather conditions, occasionally exposed to wet/cold conditions and chemicals. Noise level in work environment is moderate. Can work up to 12 hours, longer during severe storms.

Compensation: $25.00 – $27.00 per hour.
