Role summary

In conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Manager, the Clinical Nurse Specialist contributes to delivering a high standard of care to individuals with complex bladder and bowel needs in a variety of settings. The role is field based and will cover both acute and primary care.

Key Responsibilities

  • To promote the use of Nightingale home delivery service for patients requiring specialist products appropriate to individual need.
  • Actively seek potential business opportunities on behalf of the organization.
  • To ensure individuals are offered a holistic assessment and their individual needs are managed appropriately.
  • To manage patient referrals of individuals requiring support and management of their continence need.
  • To work in collaboration to develop a service for individual clients in their own home or in a clinic environment.
  • To work autonomously with individuals to ensure high standards of care are delivered in the promotion of continence and management of incontinence.
  • To undertake clinical procedures, investigations, or interventions competently whilst maintaining a safe, dignified, and confidential environment for the client.
  • To participate in delivering training for the development of others.
  • To maintain a high standard of professional competency within a framework of clinical governance.
  • To always maintain a professional attitude in the best interest of the clients and professionals in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • To maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical record keeping.
  • To produce reports when requested by the Clinical Nurse Manager.
  • To participate in clinical audit to review and monitor service activity.
  • To ensure quality, standards which improve the clients experience and outcomes are implemented.
  • Maintain personal development to provide a high level of specialist care and support, in accordance with NMC requirements.
  • Attend regular meetings with Clinical Nurse Manager and participate in personal development review as requested.
  • Attend meetings as required at Clinisupplies.

Experienced Required

  • Be able to undertake a specialist holistic assessment, diagnose, plan, and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage caseload/workload and associated resources.
  • Be able to work autonomously.
  • Demonstrate a high level of clinical competence in relation to the specialism.
  • Be able to provide specialist advice and support healthcare professionals, patients, and their carers.
  • Ability to demonstrate written skills that are relevant, accurate and concise.
  • Ability to demonstrate individual responsibility in respect of Health and Safety.

Professional

  • Registered Nurse.
  • Post registration experience within a urology / continence environment.
  • First level degree in a health-related subject or working towards.
  • Demonstrable experience of teaching or delivering training.
  • Qualification and/or evidence of working with adults who have complex continence issues.
  • Experience of working in a commercial healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of audit processes.
  • Have knowledge of home delivery services for specialist products / DAC.
