Job Summary: The Human Resources Manager will lead and evolve a high-performing HR function that enables the Company’s strategic objectives, growth, and culture. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the role combines operational delivery with strategic influence, acting as a trusted advisor to leaders and driving commercially focused people solutions that improve organisational performance. The role is accountable for attracting, developing, and retaining talent, embedding a high-performance and values-led culture, and ensuring the organisation operates with full compliance and sound people governance. Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Act as a trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership Team, providing insight, challenge, and commercially focused people solutions.
    • Develop and deliver a clear HR strategy and annual people plan aligned to business priorities.
    • Lead organisational design, workforce planning, and succession strategies to support sustainable growth.
    • Ensure robust HR governance frameworks, policies, and standards are in place and consistently applied.
    • Contribute to business planning, ensuring people implications are fully considered in decision-making.
  • HR Team Leadership & Management
    • Lead the end-to-end delivery of the HR service, setting clear direction, priorities, and standards to ensure a consistent, high-quality service.
    • Inspire, coach, and develop the HR team, fostering strong communication, accountability, and a shared sense of purpose.
    • Take full ownership of performance management for the HR team, including setting objectives and conducting high-quality performance reviews.
    • Provide expert guidance and mentoring to build capability and confidence within the HR team.
    • Ensure consistent and effective application of HR policies and procedures through strong oversight and quality assurance.
    • Allocate and manage HR workload and resources to ensure delivery against business priorities.
  • Employee Relations & Compliance
    • Own and lead complex employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and commercially balanced outcomes.
    • Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and regulatory requirements, mitigating legal and reputational risk.
    • Oversee case management quality, ensuring timely resolution and robust documentation.
    • Manage relationships with external advisors where required.
  • Culture, Engagement & Wellbeing
    • Lead employee engagement strategy, using data and insight to drive measurable improvements.
    • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in a practical and embedded way.
    • Promote a high-performance culture focused on accountability, recognition, and continuous improvement.
    • Develop wellbeing initiatives that support retention, resilience, and productivity.
  • Talent, Learning & Development
    • Lead workforce planning and resourcing strategies to ensure access to high-quality talent.
    • Oversee recruitment strategy and delivery, ensuring an excellent candidate and hiring manager experience.
    • Design and implement effective onboarding and induction programmes.
    • Identify capability gaps and implement targeted learning and development solutions.
    • Lead succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
    • Embed effective performance management processes across the organisation.
  • Reward, Performance & Workforce Insights
    • Own reward and benefits frameworks, ensuring they are competitive, equitable, and aligned to business performance.
    • Lead salary benchmarking and pay review processes.
    • Provide data-driven workforce insights to improve retention, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
    • Ensure performance frameworks drive accountability and business results.
  • Data, Systems & Continuous Improvement
    • Lead the development and optimisation of HR systems, ensuring strong data integrity and reporting capability.
    • Use HR analytics to inform decision-making and drive performance improvements.
    • Continuously improve HR processes to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
    • Support digital transformation initiatives, particularly relating to people data and systems.
  • Change Management & Projects
    • Lead and support organisational change initiatives, including restructures and system implementations.
    • Ensure effective communication, engagement, and risk management throughout change programmes.
    • Provide HR leadership on business-critical projects.

Personal Specification:

  • CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience leading an HR function in a multi-site, complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations issues.
  • Experience in organisational development, change management, and workforce planning.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to link people strategy to business outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capability.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS.
