As Scientific Director, you will work closely with Scientific Leadership and Project Managers to oversee the delivery of high-quality qualitative and mixed-methods research projects conducted within and outside of clinical trials. You will be responsible for managing research activities across assigned projects, ensuring scientific quality, operational delivery, and a high standard of client experience.
The role includes oversight of researchers and project teams, development of study materials and interview manuals, contribution to reporting and interpretation of findings, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and to Clinigma’s standards. You will be part of an innovative, globally distributed team that combines scientific rigor, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the human experiences that shape clinical decision-making. In this role, you will balance scientific oversight, team leadership, timelines, and stakeholder expectations to deliver meaningful, high-quality research outcomes.
What you’ll do:
- Manage assigned research project members to ensure the overall quality of deliverables.
- Manage Scientific Lead/CSO input to assigned projects to ensure reliable deliverables that meet Clinigma’s high quality standard of qualitative and quantitative research in and outside of clinical trials.
- Advise and coordinate with Scientific Directors and Project Managers on timelines and relevant details in project proposals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high quality standard of qualitative and quantitative research in and outside of clinical trials.
- Support and promote Clinigma's Quality Management System (QMS), following applicable SOPs and contributing to a culture of quality within the scientific team and throughout the organization.
- Provide input to project proposals.
- Lead the development and review of interview manuals, discussion guides, and research reporting deliverables to ensure scientific rigor, consistency, and quality.
- Drive the development and execution of analytical strategies to support research and development projects.
- Contribute to the development of scientific publications, conference abstracts, and dissemination materials as relevant.
- Responsible for allocation of resources.
- Responsible for managing staff.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong, demonstrable experience leading qualitative research projects conducted within clinical trials and regulated research environments (required).
- Experience working with and overseeing interview guides, qualitative coding, analysis frameworks, and reporting in regulated research environments.
- Strong ability to interpret and communicate qualitative research findings in a clear, scientifically rigorous, and sponsor-ready manner.
- Proven experience managing sponsor relationships and engaging confidently with senior scientific, clinical, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience overseeing multiple projects and balancing scientific quality, timelines, and operational delivery.
- Ability to provide guidance and oversight to researchers and cross-functional project teams.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with compliance standards (e.g., GCP, GDPR, HIPAA).
- Collaborative, proactive, and able to work smoothly in an international, multicultural environment.
- Excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, and high standards for scientific quality.
Education: Master’s or PhD required. We are only considering candidates with prior experience in qualitative research applied to clinical trials.
