Optegra has an exciting new job opportunity for an experienced Ward Nurse to join our amazing and supportive team in our prestige Surrey Eye Hospital, located in Guildford. The Role
The job holder will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the Ophthalmic service at Optegra, including surgery. Provide excellent care to all patients, with specific responsibility for diagnostic testing, pre-operative assessment, peri-operative and post-operative care in the surgical and refractive suite of the hospital, and assisting with minor operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use clinical judgement and analytical skills to proactively identify potential problems during the patients’ clinical pathway that require Consultant / Surgeon input.
- Work with Consultants supporting them and delivering excellent care to patients during their clinical pathway.
- Provide pre and postoperative instructions to patients/carers through effective communication as part of the clinical competency framework and holistic care of patients.
- Provide clinical advice for patients, within level of competency.
- Administer drugs and treatments as prescribed according to the NMC guidelines for the Standards for Medicines Management 2008.
Requirements:
- RGN with NMC registration or ODP with HCP registration, with no restrictions
- Experience with day surgery / operating theatre / outpatient setting
- Minimum of two years post qualification experience
- A qualification in Ophthalmology or Peri operative care and previous experience in Ophthalmology or Outpatients would be desirable but not essential
