Clinical Net is a mission‐driven healthtech startup focused on solving one of the hardest problems in clinical research: helping patients and clinicians efficiently find and access the right clinical trials. Today, trial discovery is fragmented, manual, and time‐consuming, leading to under‐enrolment, delayed studies, and missed opportunities for patients to access potentially life‐changing therapies. Clinical Net has built a smart, scalable platform that uses structured clinical data and intelligent matching to connect patients and volunteers with relevant clinical trials more quickly and accurately.

Clinical Net is entering a pivotal growth phase, transitioning from early platform development to product expansion, partnerships, and scale. This role offers a rare opportunity to take ownership of the technical foundations of a product with clear real‐world impact, regulatory complexity, and long‐term relevance in healthcare.

Clinical Net is looking for a driven, talented, self‐starting Tech Lead full‐stack software engineer to contribute to the strategic direction and ongoing development of our platform to connect patients and volunteers with relevant clinical trials. This is not just an engineering role; it is an opportunity to define the future of our product and technology. You will be directly responsible for leveraging technology to break down barriers to medical innovation and improve patient outcomes.

Working remotely in the UK, you will work directly alongside the CEO and Founder to be a decisive voice on technical strategy and implementation. This is a mission‐critical role: you will be the first in‐house technical hire, meaning you will have full autonomy and ownership over the technical stack and execution.

Your role will be both strategic (setting the technical roadmap and best practices) and require hands‐on delivery, acting as the most senior individual contributor and driver of the product build at this stage of the company. You will work with the wider leadership team to understand the current development priorities and take complete ownership of delivering the features that are agreed upon and assigned to you. You will also establish the technical standard, contribute to the development of the product by supporting and onboarding other engineers in the team, and other relevant activities such as reviewing their pull requests.

This role brings the opportunity to join the company as it is set to start a period of significant growth. Join us to lead the technology that powers the next generation of clinical research.

About you

You take pride in championing a great user experience and know how to architect and build the system to do so. You bring significant commercial experience with the languages and technologies listed below, and apply that knowledge of best practice to deliver high‐quality working software, with an emphasis on clarity and maintainability of the system you deliver. Your experience in a start‐up environment means you prioritise delivering incremental value to enable rapid feedback and steer the business towards product‐market fit.

You are ready to step up and lead, acting as the technical co‐pilot to the CEO and growing an engineering function over time.

  • Experience with PHP on Laravel, Angular, TypeScript and SCSS is also valuable
  • Familiarity with healthcare and medical terminology is beneficial but definitely not essential. We value technical excellence and leadership first and foremost
