Purpose of Role: To oversee a team of warehouse operatives to ensure efficient, safe, and accurate handling and dispatch of goods throughout the warehouse. The role is responsible for daily workflow coordination, meeting operational KPIs, coaching colleagues, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily warehouse operations including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, replenishment, and inventory control.
- Allocate tasks to team members and monitor progress to ensure service levels and productivity targets are achieved.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to process, cost, and performance.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and development of warehouse operatives.
- Conduct performance reviews, address training needs, and support colleagues’ skill progression.
- Manage staffing levels, including break allocation, absence cover, and shift handovers.
- Ensure all warehouse activities follow H&S policies, SOPs, RAMS, and legal regulations.
- Carry out equipment and workplace safety checks, reporting hazards and non-compliances.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Strict adherence to, and enforcement of, health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, manual handling, PPE).
Operational & Technical Skills:
- Accurate Inventory controls, monitoring stock levels, conducting cycle counts, and ensuring precise stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO).
- Comprehensive knowledge of picking, packing, and shipping workflows to identify and implement improvements.
- Use Microsoft Dynamics ERP System to track work, record data, and analyse performance.
- Generate and maintain daily or shift reports on KPIs such as productivity, accuracy, and stock movements.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Demonstrate strong team leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent understanding of MS Office tools and ERP/WMS systems.
- Experience in warehouse environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Knowledge of H&S, IOSH and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a warehousing environment.
- Strong background in warehouse operations, with a demonstrated ability to guide, support, and develop team members.
- Valid Forklift Counterbalance Licence, with a minimum of 5 years’ practical operating experience.
- Familiarity with lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies is advantageous.
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience. Days only Monday to Friday.
