Role: Melter / Melting Operative
Transferable Skills/Experience Required: A background in either general foundry work or in engineering is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Foundry melting experience in either vacuum melting or atmospheric.
- Assist Foundry Manager in the setting up of moulds for the forthcoming melt campaign as per production schedule in both the air and vacuum melt foundry.
- Calculate charge additions as and when required in liaison with the Foundry Manager (if air melting).
- Prepare and set up ladles for the forthcoming melt campaign as per production schedule in the air melt foundry.
- Weigh and calculate trim additions.
- Ensure pre melt checks are undertaken.
- Assist when melting.
- Required to disassemble the castings from the previous melting campaign for both air and vacuum melting.
- Post cast removal of parts and delivery of castings to the Finishing department with associated paperwork i.e. route cards.
- If vacuum melting, conduct melts on 3 off Induction Skull Melting furnaces (ISM) and 1 off Vacuum Arc Re-melting furnace (VAR).
- Notifying any changes of melt plan to Chief Operating Officer.
- Raise NCR’s when required, investigate and close out.
- Ensure housekeeping is maintained to a high standard.
- Update WIP as and when required.
Competitive salary. 2 shifts Morning and Afters with the possibility of moving to a 3 shift pattern.
