With a strong pipeline of diverse projects and a commitment to low-carbon engineering, this is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior leadership role where you’ll shape both projects and team growth.

This is a senior, client-facing position ideal for someone who blends technical excellence with leadership, commercial awareness, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll lead projects, nurture client relationships, mentor engineers, and help drive the strategic direction of the MEP offering — all within a progressive consultancy that values innovation and people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership & Delivery
    • Lead MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health) design across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare & education
    • Ensure technical excellence and compliance with UK standards and legislation
    • Oversee design quality, conduct reviews, and mentor engineers & technicians
    • Champion low-carbon, energy-efficient design solutions (including heat networks)
    • Support innovation, digital engineering, and continuous improvement
  • Project & Commercial Management
    • Act as Project Lead or Technical Lead on complex schemes
    • Manage programmes, resources, and deliverables
    • Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors across all RIBA stages
    • Manage risk, change, and project financial performance
    • Support bids, fee proposals, and business development activities
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Line manage, mentor, and develop the MEP team
    • Lead appraisals, training, and career progression initiatives
    • Support recruitment and team growth
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, high-performance culture
    • Act as a role model for technical excellence and professionalism
About You
  • Degree qualified (BEng/BSc) in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Strong post-graduate experience (or HNC with extensive industry experience)
  • Proven experience leading projects and mentoring teams
  • Strong understanding of UK building services design standards
  • Experience or exposure to heat networks / district energy systems is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Passion for sustainability and low-carbon design
  • Commercially aware with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
