Climate17 are working with a leading UK IPP who have a growing UK portfolio of projects across BESS, Solar and Grid Stability. As part of a new phase of growth, we are seeking a Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of renewable energy projects across Battery Energy Storage (BESS), Solar PV and Grid Stability assets. Initially, the role will be focused on pre-construction and back-office activities, including project strategy, procurement, technical coordination and readiness for construction. As projects progress, the role will transition into full lifecycle delivery support. This is a senior, technically informed role requiring close collaboration with internal teams, contractors, consultants and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pre-construction activities including project strategy, programme development, procurement and contractor engagement
- Support the delivery of BESS, Solar and grid-connected infrastructure projects, ensuring readiness for construction
- Manage project budgets, schedules, risk registers and reporting
- Oversee procurement strategy, tendering, contract selection and purchase order approvals
- Ensure compliance with planning, environmental, CDM and H&S regulations
- Coordinate technical inputs across electrical, civil and grid connection scopes
- Act as a key interface with utilities, consultants, regulators and landowners
- As projects handover into construction, lead and oversee the process.
- Manage the delivery of projects across all technologies.
- Provide project and technical input to wider business development and investment activities, including due diligence
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience delivering renewable or power infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of grid-connected projects, ideally at 66kV or 132kV, or transmission-connected assets
- Solid background in electrical engineering or power systems
- Experience across pre-construction, procurement and project set-up
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and contracts
- Confident communicator, comfortable working with senior stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience delivering BESS, Solar or grid stability projects
- Familiarity with NEC or similar forms of contract
- Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering is ideal (or related discipline)
- IOSH / NEBOSH (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
