Climate17 is partnering with a leading US-based renewable energy developer specializing in utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects across key North American power markets, including ERCOT, MISO, SOCO, and TVA. The business is experiencing rapid portfolio growth and is now seeking an experienced Transmission Planning Manager to join their expanding team in San Antonio, TX. This is a high-impact role offering exposure across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage development through construction and commissioning, within a fast-paced and technically advanced environment.
Your Opportunity: You will take ownership of transmission planning and interconnection activities across a growing portfolio of utility-scale solar and BESS projects. Working closely with the Director of Interconnection, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are optimally designed, effectively modelled, and successfully progressed through ISO and utility processes. This is a hands-on technical position combining modelling, stakeholder coordination, and project execution, with significant visibility across internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support the interconnection lifecycle across multiple utility-scale projects
- Conduct and oversee power flow studies, transmission analysis, and interconnection modelling
- Evaluate system constraints, congestion, curtailment, and basis risk across project sites
- Support negotiation and review of interconnection agreements and technical exhibits
- Coordinate with ISOs, utilities, EPC contractors, and internal stakeholders on project delivery
- Track project schedules, milestones, and interconnection deliverables aligned to overall development timelines
- Monitor regulatory and ISO developments and communicate relevant updates to leadership
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
- 5 years’ experience in transmission planning, interconnection, or related power systems role
- 3 years’ experience with PowerWorld, PSSE, PLEXOS, TARA, or similar modelling tools
- Strong understanding of ERCOT and/or MISO interconnection processes preferred
- Proven ability to manage complex technical projects and multiple stakeholders
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and confident working independently in a fast-paced environment
Salary and Benefits:
- $140,000 to $200,000 per annum with some flexibility for outstanding applicants
