About the Role
An expanding renewable energy developer is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead the technical delivery of large-scale solar and energy storage projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineering professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and contributing to high-impact renewable projects. The position is based in San Antonio, Texas and will be part of a small, agile team that values innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate engineering activities across all project phases—from early development through construction and commissioning.
- Review and approve design documentation at key stages (concept, design progression, issue for construction).
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Perform detailed assessments of engineering deliverables, studies, and technical reports.
- Provide insights to project management, procurement, and field teams to ensure technical alignment and timely execution.
- Support evaluation of EPC and subcontractor proposals, identifying technical risks and recommending solutions.
- Assist with RFIs, NCRs, and resolution of design conflicts during project delivery.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams—including contractors, consultants, and suppliers—to address issues and maintain quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying process or design efficiencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in solar PV and/or battery energy storage project engineering.
- Direct involvement in technical oversight of several large-scale renewable projects.
- Strong knowledge of design, permitting, and construction practices for utility or commercial-scale renewable systems.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and other MS Office applications.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
Salary and Benefits
$110k–$120k base + 7.5% bonus. Medical, dental, vision 401k 10 paid public holidays, 17 days PTO Full relocation package including family support, vehicle, assistance with selling property, house-hunting trips, temporary living expenses.
