Climate17 is working with a well-established renewable energy platform to appoint an Investment Analyst into their growing finance team. The business operates across solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) and has a strong track record of delivering utility-scale renewable energy assets, alongside an active pipeline of development, financing, and transaction activity. This is an excellent opportunity for an analytically strong individual to gain hands-on exposure to project finance, M&A, and investment decision-making within a fast-paced and commercially focused environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Investment Manager, the Investment Analyst will support the development, maintenance, and optimisation of financial models across a portfolio of renewable energy projects. The role will involve working closely with internal stakeholders, lenders, advisors, and senior leadership, supporting key commercial decisions across the full project lifecycle. You will play a key role in analysing investment opportunities, supporting transactions, and ensuring robust financial insight is provided to underpin strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, develop, and maintain complex financial models for solar and BESS projects
- Run and analyse equity and lender case scenarios
- Support project finance activities, including debt sizing, structuring, and optimisation
- Undertake valuation, sensitivity analysis, and detailed cashflow modelling
- Review and challenge model assumptions to ensure accuracy and robustness
- Identify risks and opportunities within financial models and communicate key findings
- Support acquisitions, investment processes, tenders, and financial close activities
- Contribute to commercial negotiations through financial analysis and insight
- Prepare materials for internal investment committees and decision-making forums
- Support debt compliance, reporting, and ongoing portfolio analysis
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in financial modelling
- Strong understanding of financial statements and cashflow modelling
- Advanced Excel skills (essential), with VBA experience beneficial
- Strong analytical capability with high attention to detail
- Ability to interpret both quantitative and qualitative data
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights clearly
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a commercial environment
Desirable
- Experience within renewable energy, infrastructure, or energy markets
- Exposure to solar PV and/or battery energy storage projects
- ACA, CFA, or equivalent financial qualification
