Our client is expanding their engineering team and is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support project design, interconnection, and technical execution across a growing renewable energy portfolio.
Location: Rochester, NY
Travel: Minimal travel required
Your Opportunity: This position will play a key role within the EPC team, supporting the design, analysis, and optimization of solar and battery storage projects from early-stage development through construction. The role will work closely with project managers, utilities, third-party engineers, and EPC teams to support interconnection, system design, permitting, and project execution across community and utility-scale renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the electrical design and engineering of solar PV and energy storage projects
- Prepare and review single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, and technical specifications
- Lead or support interconnection applications and utility coordination efforts
- Perform feasibility studies, system performance analysis, and design optimization
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, utilities, and third-party engineering consultants
- Support permitting, regulatory compliance, and technical documentation
- Assist with transmission planning, utility studies, and interconnection risk analysis
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning activities
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 5 years of electrical engineering experience within renewable energy projects
- Experience supporting community or utility-scale solar and/or battery storage projects
- Strong understanding of interconnection processes, utility coordination, and transmission studies
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVSyst, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of NEC standards, power flow analysis, and system modelling
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency strongly preferred
- Ability to work primarily onsite in Rochester, NY
