Our client is an international clean energy technology business specialising in advanced battery energy storage and power electronics solutions for utility-scale and commercial energy applications. Having established a strong presence in international markets, the business is now entering the UK market and is seeking an ambitious Key Account Manager to help build long-term customer relationships, develop strategic partnerships, and support the growth of its battery energy storage solutions across the UK renewable energy sector. The Opportunity
As Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing relationships with existing customers whilst identifying and securing new business opportunities across the UK market. You will work closely with developers, EPC contractors, utilities, investors, consultants and other stakeholders involved in the deployment of battery energy storage projects. Supported by a dedicated technical solutions team, you will lead commercial discussions, understand customer requirements and position the company's products and solutions effectively within a competitive marketplace. This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to become a key figure in the growth of a rapidly expanding international business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers and strategic partners operating within the UK renewable energy and energy storage market.
- Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities across utility-scale and commercial battery energy storage projects.
- Build a strong pipeline of opportunities with developers, EPC contractors, IPPs, utilities, investors and energy infrastructure businesses.
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact for customers throughout the sales process.
- Work closely with internal technical and solutions teams to develop tailored proposals and customer solutions.
- Support customers through the project development and procurement process.
- Monitor market developments, competitor activity and industry trends.
- Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, conferences and networking activities.
- Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reports and market intelligence updates.
- Contribute to the development of the company's UK go-to-market strategy and customer engagement approach.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in key account management, business development, sales or commercial roles within the renewable energy sector.
- Strong understanding of battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV, power electronics, inverters or related energy technologies.
- Proven ability to develop long-term customer relationships and generate new business opportunities.
- Experience working with developers, EPCs, utilities, IPPs, investors or energy infrastructure stakeholders.
- Commercially minded with strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Comfortable operating within a growing business environment and helping establish a new market presence.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial and capable of working independently.
- Experience using CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK as required.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience selling battery storage systems, inverters, power conversion equipment or related technologies.
- Existing network within the UK BESS, solar or wider energy transition market.
- Understanding of UK energy market dynamics, grid infrastructure and project development processes.
