A renewable energy business with a large operational and development portfolio is seeking an Interconnection Manager to lead U.S. interconnection activity across projects from early‑stage development through commissioning and operations. This role sits at the centre of grid connection delivery and supports project progress across multiple regions and markets. The successful candidate will coordinate interconnection strategy, manage technical and commercial interfaces, and help ensure that projects remain compliant with utility, ISO/RTO, and regulatory requirements. This position is suited to someone with strong technical understanding, excellent coordination skills, and experience working across multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full interconnection process for U.S. renewable energy projects, including planning, applications, studies, and agreements.
- Coordinate internal teams and external partners on interconnection processes across established and emerging regions.
- Work with ISOs, utilities, and internal functions such as Engineering, Development, Compliance, and Construction to keep milestones and schedules on track.
- Review and negotiate interconnection agreements, technical documentation, and commissioning plans.
- Manage modelling workstreams, including RARF, QSA, and dynamic models, ensuring compliance with ISO, PUC, and utility requirements.
- Support post‑COD activities related to operations, compliance, market participation, and battery storage integration.
- Provide clear guidance to internal stakeholders on interconnection processes, obligations, and deliverables.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; a Power Systems focus is preferred.
- Master’s degree in Renewable Energy or Grid Operations is an advantage.
- At least 5 years’ experience with transmission‑connected inverter‑based generation and interconnection processes.
- Strong knowledge of major U.S. ISO and RTO requirements, including MISO, ERCOT, SPP, PJM, and WECC.
- Proficiency with power system modelling tools such as TARA, PSS/E, PSLF, and preferably PSCAD.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Aspen, PowerWorld, and AutoCAD is beneficial.
- Professional Engineer licence in Power Systems is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
