An established and collaborative renewable energy EPC is seeking a full time Construction Project Manager for large-scale BESS and Solar projects.
Position Overview
The Construction Manager will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of a 200MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Massachusetts. This role requires strong leadership in managing all construction activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets. The Construction Manager will serve as the primary onsite representative, coordinating between contractors, engineers, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Execution:Develop and manage detailed construction schedules, resource plans, and budgets. Oversee all phases of construction from site preparation through commissioning and handover to operations.
- Site Management:Be present on-site at least 70% of the time to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Contractor & Subcontractor Oversight:Lead, coordinate, and supervise contractors and subcontractors, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to high-quality standards.
- Safety & Compliance:Establish and enforce rigorous safety protocols. Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental, zoning, and permitting requirements.
- Quality Assurance:Conduct regular site inspections, quality audits, and progress reviews to maintain project integrity and performance.
- Stakeholder Communication:Act as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory authorities, and internal teams. Provide regular updates and reports on project status, risks, and financial performance.
- Risk Management:Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project continuity and minimize disruptions.
- Documentation & Reporting:Maintain accurate project documentation, including permits, inspection records, and progress reports. Ensure timely handover of project documentation to operations teams.
- Collaboration:Work closely with engineering, procurement, and permitting teams to address design, material supply, and regulatory challenges.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Certifications:OSHA 30-hour certification, PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
Skills and Background
- Minimum of five(5) years’ experience in construction management
- Previous experience in project management of large-scale BESS projects and/or renewable energy projects.
- Must becomputer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint,experience withconstruction management software such as Primaverapreferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Work experience tracking and updating CPM schedules, RFIs, submittals,payment analysis,reviewof ongoing work at the site, attendance ofmeetings and project coordination with the costumer
- Must be happy with over 50% travel, likely 70%.
