The Role: MEP Engineer (Guardian)
Based in London, this is a hands‑on, site‑focused role where you’ll play a key part in ensuring the quality, compliance, and performance of MEP installations. Working closely with the sector lead, you’ll support the delivery and expansion of the MEP Guardian service‑combining design review, on‑site inspection, and performance optimisation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to delivery, understands site realities, and wants to influence outcomes in a meaningful way.
Key Responsibilities
- MEP Assurance & Site Monitoring
- Carry out design reviews and assess contractor proposals
- Monitor MEP installations on‑site to ensure quality and compliance
- Witness testing and support acceptance processes
- Performance & Optimisation
- Conduct troubleshooting and optimisation studies on existing MEP systems
- Improve efficiency, reliability, and operational performance
- Support compliance validation and performance verification
- Technical Standards & Best Practice
- Develop internal tools, trackers, and testing procedures
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
- Undertake internal design reviews to maintain technical standards
- Team Support & Development
- Mentor and support graduate and junior engineers
- Contribute to the growth of the MEP Guardian service offering
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and projects
About You
- Background in Building Services / MEP Engineering
- Strong understanding of a broad range of MEP systems
- Experience with on‑site inspection, commissioning, or contractor coordination
- Likely a Senior Engineer, or an Intermediate ready to step up
- Could also suit an MEP Coordinator from a contractor background
- Working towards or already Chartered Engineer status
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Comfortable representing projects in client and site meetings
- Passion for sustainable, high‑performance buildings
