What the job involves

As IT Manager, you will own Climate X’s device, identity and security estate end-to-end. You will manage our macOS fleet through Microsoft Intune, harden access with Conditional Access and compliance policies, administer Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID, and run a responsive support function through Zendesk — keeping the business secure, productive and audit-ready as we scale through Series B and beyond. This is a hands-on, security-first role with real breadth.

At a fast-moving scale-up trusted by global financial institutions, IT is not a back-office cost centre — it is what lets the company move quickly without compromising on security. You will be AI-first by default, automating everything that is ready to be automated, so support, provisioning and reporting run on systems rather than manual effort, and your time goes to judgement, security and improvement.

You will report to the Director of Finance & Operations, partner closely with the People and Security functions, and be the go-to owner of how Climate X equips, secures and supports its people.

Design and run the device, identity and security estate expected of a fast-scaling, regulated-adjacent fintech serving global financial institutions. Maintain and extend ISO 27001 controls across IT — producing the evidence and documentation needed to sustain accreditation and pass client security reviews. Establish IT governance, asset management and a clear policy framework as headcount grows across the UK and US.

Own the macOS fleet through Microsoft Intune — enrolment, configuration profiles, patching, app deployment and compliance baselines. Run zero-touch provisioning with Apple Business Manager and Volume Purchase Program (VPP), from automated enrolment to app licensing. Manage the full device lifecycle: procurement, onboarding, refresh, return and secure wipe.

Configure and maintain Conditional Access and device compliance policies across the estate. Administer Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) — SSO, MFA, licensing and least-privilege access. Lead joiner/mover/leaver access management and keep the company audit-ready at all times.

Manage IT support end-to-end through Zendesk — triage, SLAs, escalation and resolution. Own technical onboarding and offboarding so new joiners are productive on day one and leavers are de-provisioned cleanly and completely. Track support metrics and turn ticket trends into process improvements and self-serve fixes.

Maintain clear, current IT processes, runbooks and a self-serve knowledge base. Keep an accurate asset and software register, including licensing, renewals and ownership. Automate provisioning, reporting and routine support wherever it creates leverage — using scripting and AI tooling rather than manual effort. Set a bias toward self-service and automation so the function scales with headcount without scaling cost.

How to prepare for a job interview at Climate X

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
