The Role
We are looking for a Principal Analyst to expand our data center product at Sightline Climate. This role includes:
- Creating proprietary datasets
- Developing insightful market analysis
- Building forecasts and economic models
- Producing in-depth analysis that helps shape the transition landscape
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting in-depth research across our data centers and power markets practice, focusing on the impact of data center demand on the power sector and emissions
- Producing models and tools to help our clients understand the risks, economics, and trends in data center deployment and powering models
- Developing differentiated proprietary rankings and datasets that highlight the companies and regions leading the industry in key metrics
- Analyzing large datasets across sector investment, project deployment, economics, business models, and demand
- Converting complex data and research findings into actionable frameworks and insights for a range of audiences, including financiers, corporate strategists, and policymakers
- Engaging with and presenting to external stakeholders, offering thought leadership and reinforcing and expanding Sightline Climate’s position as the go-to source on actionable intelligence across the transition economy
- Becoming Sightline Climate’s expert in data center powering models and project economics, making connections between data center trends and those in the wider energy transition
- Helping shape our pipeline of research and tools to ensure that our analysis stays ahead of the curve
The Essentials
- 5-7 years experience in market research on data centers, power markets, grids, and/or electricity pricing
- Experience in building economic models and forecasts for energy systems and novel technologies
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex data to senior audiences in a comprehensible manner
- Ability to quickly produce insightful analysis, in addition to being able to project manage larger research initiatives
- Innately curious and passionate about the energy transition
- Eager to explore and understand the commercial and economic implications of new technologies and sources of demand
A Plus
- A Master's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Environment / Climate, or other Sciences
- Experience in data center power procurement, utility strategy, or grid operations
- Additional data analysis skills / experience in Excel, SQL, or Python
