About Constructive

Constructive is an independent non-profit organisation working to reshape how the energy and climate ecosystem collaborates. We design and lead cross-sector platforms, convenings, and long-term initiatives that build trust, align priorities, and accelerate progress toward energy abundance and a thriving planet. We work with leaders from government, industry, finance, philanthropy, and civil society to turn fragmented efforts into durable, action-oriented collaborations. Our work blends expert facilitation, strategic design, and rigorous production to create environments where complex problems can be tackled with clarity and momentum. We are an entrepreneurial and fast-moving team looking for someone who is energised by building something new and scaling impact over time.

Role Overview

Constructive is seeking a UK Programme Manager to own day-to-day delivery for a portfolio of flagship clean-energy and climate programmes in the UK and Europe. A core focus of this role will be helping to scale Constructive’s Liftoff effort in the UK: turning high-level clean energy ambition into concrete collaboration between government, industry, finance, and civil society. You will own both delivery and substance: building rigorous workplans, budgets, and processes while actively shaping agendas, stress-testing assumptions, and contributing to the substance of each initiative. This is not a coordination-only role; you will be expected to exercise judgment, propose solutions, and improve the quality of the work. The role reports to the UK Programme Director and collaborates closely with colleagues across creative, communications, and finance.

The UK Programme Manager will:

  • Lead end-to-end ownership of high-profile programmes and convenings in the UK and Europe, from framing the problem through to delivery and follow-on action
  • Turn strategic goals into clear problem statements and executable project plans
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure outputs are impactful, credible, and well executed

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Love taking a big-picture vision and turning it into reality
  • Enjoy being the person who keeps complex projects on track across many moving parts and partners
  • Are confident engaging senior stakeholders while also happy to roll up your sleeves on the details
  • Are naturally curious and a fast study—able to quickly get up to speed on new technologies, policy issues, and stakeholder perspectives
  • Feel energised by enabling a mission-driven non-profit that is working to accelerate clean energy deployment and real-world collaboration

Please note: this is not a traditional PMO or operations role focused solely on task tracking or delivery against a fixed brief. Programme Managers are expected to engage with the substance of the work, problem solve content, and help partners move from ambition to concrete action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project & Process Leadership
  • Translate engagement ambitions into detailed project plans, timelines, and RACI matrices; keep internal and external teams on track
  • Own production budgets (typically mid-six to low-seven figures), vendor contracts, and on-site logistics
  • Design and continuously improve delivery playbooks, checklists, and workflow tools to make convenings repeatable and scalable
  • Coordinate with the UK Programme Director to align delivery with the broader Liftoff strategy and Constructive’s UK and EU programme portfolio
  • Stakeholder & Content Management
    • Map and cultivate relationships with government officials, investors, companies, NGOs, and technical experts
    • Co-lead agenda and programme design, identifying the key decisions, tensions, and trade-offs that need to be surfaced to drive progress
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for partners and contributors, providing clear communication, managing expectations, and ensuring follow-through
    • Work with policy, industry, and technical experts to pressure-test ideas, synthesise perspectives, and translate complexity into clear choices
  • Team Coordination & Quality Control
    • Coordinate cross-functional internal teams (creative, communications, operations) and external partners to deliver high-quality outputs and convenings
    • Lead regular stand-ups and risk reviews; identify dependencies and escalate issues early with pragmatic, data-informed solutions
    • Manage post-event follow-up, including outcome tracking, cross media publications, communications, and internal handoffs
  • Measurement & Continuous Improvement
    • Define success metrics (e.g., stakeholder commitments, follow-on actions) for convenings and programmes
    • Lead post-event debriefs and capture insights to refine Constructive’s convening architecture and delivery model over time
    • Maintain accurate records, trackers, and documentation so learning compounds across events and geographies

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 5–8 years of progressive experience in programme, event, or project management in contexts requiring analytical judgment and substantive content contribution (e.g. management consulting, policy delivery, climate or energy initiatives, or complex multi-stakeholder environments)
    • Familiarity with clean energy, climate, infrastructure, or adjacent sectors
    • Proven track record of owning budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects on time and on target
    • Demonstrated ability to build trust and work effectively with senior executives, policymakers, philanthropies, and technical experts
    • Process-obsessed mindset: you enjoy Gantt charts, risk logs, and making systems smoother, but can flex when conditions change
    • Strategic thinker who can see the “so what” of convenings and connect disparate dots to advance shared outcomes
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and facilitating small-group discussions
    • Proficiency with modern project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Asana, Airtable, virtual event platforms, Google Workspace)
    • Ability to be in London in person ~2 days per week and ability to travel domestically within the UK and internationally within Europe (approximately 15–20%)
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • Right to work in the UK

    Preferred

    • Experience delivering convenings that bridge government, industry, and finance
    • Prior experience in a small or entrepreneurial organisation where you built or significantly improved delivery systems
    • Experience working with partners across multiple European countries or institutions

    Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is ÂŁ50,000 - ÂŁ80,000 per year, with final compensation competitive with peer organisations and aligned with experience. Benefits include paid time off and opportunities for professional and leadership growth. Specific details will be shared with candidates during the interview process.

    Application Process

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early applications are encouraged. We are committed to building a diverse team and strongly encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives who are excited about Constructive’s mission.
