Senior Policy Officer, Energy in London

Climate Group is seeking a Senior Policy Officer to join the RE100 policy team at a pivotal moment for the global energy transition. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape policy and market frameworks that enable businesses to source 100% renewable electricity and accelerate progress towards zero-carbon power systems. Working at the intersection of business, policy and climate action, you will collaborate with leading companies, policymakers and partner organisations across Asia, Latin America and Africa to drive real-world change. As RE100 embarks on a new five-year strategy, you will play an important role in developing and delivering innovative programmes that support the transition to clean electricity worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity to join RE100 at a pivotal moment as we begin delivering our next five-year strategy. You'll support the delivery of policy programmes that support the transition to zero-carbon grids by 2040, working with leading businesses, policymakers and partners across Asia, Latin America and Africa. Working across policy, research and programme delivery, you'll contribute to advocacy that helps remove barriers to corporate renewable electricity procurement and supports the growth of renewable energy markets. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across Climate Group's global network, gain exposure to some of the most important energy transition challenges and opportunities worldwide, and contribute to the development and delivery of RE100's policy work under its next five-year strategy. Key responsibilities will include:

• Support the coordination of policy working groups and engagement plans, helping to shape policy positions and advocacy activities across priority markets.
• Develop resources and briefings for policymakers and energy stakeholders that advance RE100's Global Policy Priorities and support policy implementation.
• Plan and deliver content for workshops, roundtables, panel discussions and major international events, including Climate Week NYC, Climate Group Asia Action Summit, COP and other conferences in priority markets.
• Monitor and analyse energy market and policy developments, helping to identify key opportunities and risks for RE100 and Climate Group's wider energy transition work.
• Analyse research, market intelligence and policy developments to provide technical and strategic insights for RE100's advocacy and programme delivery.
• Support market and policy analysis to identify barriers, opportunities and priority stakeholders in target markets.
• Contribute renewable energy expertise across Climate Group's energy portfolio, supporting cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Coordinate and support the delivery of policy and programme activities in partnership with RE100 member companies, local campaign partners and external organisations.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with local campaign partners and key external stakeholders across priority markets.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Climate Group's global teams to ensure activities are delivered effectively and achieve intended outcomes.
• Monitor progress, evaluate impact and contribute to reporting against programme objectives and performance indicators.

About you

We are seeking an experienced policy and programme professional with a strong understanding of renewable energy policy, ideally gained within the NGO, energy, sustainability, government or corporate sectors. The successful candidate will be skilled at managing multi-stakeholder projects, building effective partnerships, and translating complex policy and technical issues into clear, compelling messages for a range of audiences. They will be highly organised, collaborative and motivated by the opportunity to accelerate the transition to zero-carbon electricity systems globally. Essential

• Knowledge of renewable electricity markets, ideally with experience in a policy, public affairs and/or communications capacity.
• Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to synthesise clear policy messages from complex technical content.
• Strong organisational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders and cultural contexts.
• Experience working on impactful projects or policy programmes involving multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to engage, influence and collaborate with external partners, including businesses, policymakers, NGOs and industry representatives.
• Commitment to the mission of Climate Group and RE100.

Desirable

• Qualification or direct experience in energy, policy, public affairs, economics, international relations or related fields.
• Experience working in or in partnership with the private sector, including engagement with senior stakeholders.
• Experience organising and facilitating workshops, roundtables, conferences or other multi-stakeholder events.
• Experience working in emerging markets, particularly in Asia, Africa and/or Latin America.
• Appreciation of commercial and financial drivers affecting businesses and NGOs.
• Experience monitoring, evaluating and reporting on project or policy outcomes.
• Language skills relevant to RE100's priority markets.

Where you’ll work

Based in our London office, near the iconic Tower Bridge, you’ll enjoy a flexible hybrid working arrangement of five days in the office over the fortnight. Our office is designed to support both collaborative work and focused individual time. It includes accessible facilities, a well-equipped gym, secure bike storage, and showers. Plus, we’re easy to reach by bike and public transport. The role will require occasional international travel.

This is a fixed-term position to 31 December 2027 with the possibility of renewal. The salary offered is £33,610 to £36,970 per annum, based on experience.
