Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager is responsible for building relationships and driving sponsorship revenue for our highly regarded, sustainable finance and investment conference portfolio.
About the role
We are seeking an individual who has a minimum of 5 years dedicated to B2B event sales within the conference environment, with a particular emphasis on high-value sponsorship sales. We require an individual with a deep understanding and experience within conference-led events, with a focus on events centered around climate and sustainability themes, such as sustainable investment, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), energy, finance, and transportation amongst other key topics related to sustainability and industry decarbonisation. The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for their products, have a track record of success and a demonstrable interest in sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Maximising revenue through sponsorship sales
- Identifying and securing new clients to maximise revenue and value for both parties
- Account manage existing clients forging stronger relationships
- Re‑engaging past clients, rebuilding bridges where required
- Achieving and exceeding monthly sales targets and exceeding daily KPI's
- Managing a sales pipeline document for reporting purposes, forecasting business accurately on a weekly and monthly basis
- Gathering product and company feedback from clients and prospects
- Rebooking clients on site at events, following our rebook process
- Travelling to events to manage sponsor relationship and help deliver events.
Qualifications
- 5 years experience in B2B Event sales in a conference environment
- Knowledge of climate and sustainability, to add value to client as a strategic partner
- Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales targets, showcasing the ability to drive revenue and secure high-value sponsorships
- A solid and proven track record in selling high value event sponsorship to blue chip brands
- Ability to sell conceptually and credibly with a consultative and research based sales approach
- Enjoy being challenged and engaged in a KPI driven environment where a % of your total earnings are performance based
- Experience of using CRM systems and an appreciation of their importance
- Ideally you will also have a genuine interest in working in a mission focused, for profit business, addressing the greatest challenge of our time – Climate Change
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (depending on experience)
- Uncapped commission, although minimum £90,000 OTE
