Overview

Seeking a co-founding General Partner to build and launch an impact investment fund focused on climate mitigation and adaptation opportunities across the Global South, with a strong emphasis on measurable social and environmental outcomes and the strategic use of blended finance. This is not a role within an established platform — it is a partnership opportunity to design, structure, capitalize, and lead a new institutional investment vehicle from inception.

Investment Focus

The fund will target scalable, high-integrity investment opportunities across sectors such as:

  • Renewable energy and distributed energy access
  • Nature-based solutions (ARR, REDD+, mangroves, peatlands, regenerative agriculture)
  • Climate adaptation infrastructure
  • Carbon markets and environmental commodities

The strategy will combine commercial discipline with catalytic capital — leveraging public, philanthropic, and development finance alongside private institutional and impact investors.

The Role

As Co-Founding GP, you will be an equal partner in:

  • Fund Design & Structuring: Developing the investment thesis and differentiated strategy; Structuring blended finance components (DFIs, foundations, concessional capital); Designing governance, incentive structures, and fund economics; Engaging legal counsel on fund formation and regulatory positioning; Defining impact measurement and reporting frameworks.
  • Capital Raising: Co-leading fundraising from DFIs, foundations and catalytic capital providers, institutional LPs and family offices and impact investors; Developing LP materials (PPM, pitch deck, financial model, track record framing); Leading LP due diligence processes; Building strategic anchor LP relationships.
  • Pipeline Development & Investment Execution: Sourcing proprietary opportunities across the Global South; Structuring investments (equity, quasi-equity, debt, carbon pre-purchase, offtake structures); Leading commercial and impact due diligence; Negotiating term sheets and definitive agreements; Building portfolio construction and risk management frameworks.
  • Platform Building: Hiring initial team members; Building brand credibility in climate and impact ecosystems; Representing the fund publicly.

Ideal Profile

You are likely someone who:

  • Has prior experience raising or deploying capital in emerging markets
  • Understands blended finance structures and DFI processes
  • Has credibility with institutional LPs and/or catalytic capital providers
  • Has experience developing or investing in carbon projects
  • Brings complementary sector or geographic expertise
  • Is motivated by building something from first principles rather than joining an established platform
  • Combines commercial discipline with genuine impact conviction

Experience across Africa, Latin America, South or Southeast Asia is highly valued.

Background of the other Co-Founding GP

Brings over a decade of experience managing microfinance programs in Central America, investing in renewable power projects and companies across Africa, and transacting in the voluntary carbon market.

What This Is (and Is Not)

This is:

  • A true co-founder GP opportunity
  • Long-term platform building
  • Entrepreneurial and high-ownership

This is not:

  • A salaried position within an existing fund
  • A passive advisory role
  • A short-term project

Why It Matters

Climate mitigation and adaptation capital flows remain misaligned with where impact is most needed. There is a significant opportunity to structure capital in ways that:

  • Reduce perceived risk in frontier markets
  • Crowd in private investment
  • Deliver measurable climate and livelihood outcomes
  • Generate risk-adjusted financial returns.

The goal is to build an institution that can scale beyond a single fund. If this resonates with you, please get in touch.
