The Legal Technology Advisor (LTA) is an ambitious, analytical delivery specialist, passionate about digital transformation—including the practical use of Artificial Intelligence—who operates at the intersection of law and technology across One Europe. Embedded within designated Global Business Units (GBUs) throughout the region, the LTA collaborates with deal teams and litigation teams to implement technology solutions in real time, configuring tools during active matters to ensure seamless delivery. Acting as the bridge between client needs and Clifford Chance’s technology capabilities, the LTA scopes, advises on, and deploys technology‑enabled solutions that improve efficiency, reduce risk, and contribute to revenue growth across European jurisdictions. This role drives adoption of the firm’s legal technology toolkit, delivers at the pace of client needs, and channels market and front‑line insights from across One Europe to Product Management and Legal Technology Advisory leadership, helping to shape the firm’s innovation pipeline.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for matter teams within the assigned GBU seeking technology‑enabled solutions; assess requirements, define scope and recommend appropriate tools and approaches.
  • Design and deliver technology‑assisted workflows for live matters (e.g., document/contract review and analysis, due diligence, document automation, transaction management, litigation/eDiscovery, collaboration and workflow tools), ensuring high‑quality, compliant execution.
  • Configure, integrate and optimise existing solutions to meet matter requirements; document functional requirements and enhancement requests; work with Product Management, IT and vendors on pilots and deployments.
  • Identify and support power users of key legal technology solutions to help scale delivery capabilities across the GBU.
  • Maintain clear documentation for solution configurations, matter playbooks and client engagement materials; share lessons learnt through the Legal Technology Advisory Community of Practice.
  • Build strong relationships with partners and associates, serve as a trusted advisor and deliver at the pace of the client’s needs.
  • Prepare and deliver tailored client‑facing demonstrations, proofs of concept and proposals that evidence value, differentiation and time‑to‑value.
  • Support pricing and scoping of technology components in pitches, proposals and panel submissions, working with partners and commercial teams.
  • Coordinate with relevant business stakeholders to embed legal technology into delivery and client strategies.
  • Monitor legal market trends, competitive activity and emerging technologies; identify process improvement opportunities and report local emerging technology solutions so they can be considered in the firm’s innovation pipeline.
  • Capture and share success stories, usage insights and client feedback to inform go‑to‑market materials and the product roadmap.
  • Balance immediate client demands with opportunities for broader business transformation, articulating practical, scalable solutions and change impacts.
  • Develop a deep understanding of lawyers' and clients' needs within the assigned GBU, promoting the benefits of the firm’s legal technology toolkit and advising on optimal usage scenarios.
  • Drive metrics‑driven adoption of existing solutions, prioritising engagement by demand, impact and readiness; address challenges collaboratively with Product Management teams.
  • Assist with the introduction, deployment and communication of new solutions, focusing on end‑to‑end legal service delivery processes.
  • Deliver tailored presentations and demos of the firm’s legal technology toolkit, including advanced specialist solutions and AI tools.
  • Ensure solutions and workflows comply with firm policies, client requirements, data privacy and information security standards; identify delivery risks early and propose mitigations.
  • Actively participate in the Legal Technology Advisory Community of Practice.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Revenue generation directly attributable to the application of legal technology.
  • Reduction in matter write‑offs through improved efficiency and effective deployment of legal technology solutions.
  • Success in winning client matters and panel appointments specifically due to demonstrated legal technology capabilities.
  • Positive client feedback and satisfaction regarding technology‑driven solutions and engagements.

Your experience

  • Demonstrable experience advising on and delivering legal technology within a professional services context (preferably legal or consulting).
  • Hands‑on expertise across tools such as contract analysis and review platforms, document automation, transaction management, litigation/eDiscovery, workflow and collaboration solutions; strong familiarity with Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of AI and data‑driven solutions (including Generative AI, NLP and machine learning) and their practical application to legal workflows.
  • Strength in requirements gathering, solution scoping, process mapping and change management; able to translate complex needs into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Experience with Agile delivery practices and collaboration tools (e.g., Agile Central, JIRA); comfortable working with Product Management, IT and vendors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to explain technical concepts in plain language and tailor style to partners, lawyers, clients and business stakeholders.
  • High‑quality written communication skills, including preparation of internal communications, and client‑facing materials.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate data quickly and accurately; confident using metrics to drive prioritisation and decisions.
  • Commercial awareness and insight into how legal technology impacts client outcomes and law firm economics.
  • Proactive problem‑solver with entrepreneurial drive; able to manage multiple engagements, prioritise effectively and see initiatives through to completion.
  • Credibility and intellectual rigour, with strong listening skills and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
  • Confident, positive approach; comfortable interacting with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
