Key Responsibilities:
- To supervise pupils and their work when the teacher is absent.
- The role involves taking sole charge of a group of pupils as required.
- To assist children in the classroom in the absence of Teaching Assistants.
- Promote the aims and objectives of the school and maintain its philosophy of education.
- Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to children’s learning.
- The ability to communicate effectively with parents on a regular basis.
- Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
- Support class teachers to design, create and produce learning activities, materials and resources to support aspects of the curriculum or particular learning outcomes, and to assist and support children in using them.
- Establish a supportive, caring and secure relationship with the children, promoting respect, self-esteem and a positive, inclusive whole school ethos.
- Working with challenging children (if required) e.g. with complex behavioural needs.
