Overview

In this Data Business Analyst role, you will partner with Data Owners and stakeholders to translate needs into clear data requirements and deliverables. You’ll own discovery, scope multiple initiatives, and define data quality expectations to shape the data platform. You’ll work with architects and engineers to create data contracts, user stories, and acceptance criteria, while supporting testing and UAT. The position targets improving data quality, governance, and observability, driving adoption through documentation and training, and contributing to the firm’s data strategy to generate client alpha. Hybrid in London with 2–3 days in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with data owners and stakeholders to understand data needs
  • Own discovery and scoping across a portfolio of initiatives
  • Define data quality expectations, ownership, and domain boundaries
  • Translate business requirements into data contracts, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Prioritise work, sequence delivery, and manage trade-offs
  • Support testing and user acceptance for new data capabilities
  • Evaluate and implement data capabilities (quality, metadata, cataloguing, MDM, observability)
  • Ensure alignment with data architecture and governance standards
  • Drive adoption via documentation, training and stakeholder feedback
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality and traceability, promote a data product mindset

Key requirements

  • Experience as a Business Analyst delivering data or technology projects in investment management or capital markets
  • Ability to translate business needs into functional and technical data requirements
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, ETL, data modelling, and data product delivery
  • Comfort discussing data, APIs and integration design with architects and engineers
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with senior professionals and technical teams
  • Degree educated, 2.1 or above from a top-tier university
