Do you have strong SQL skills? You could be progressing your career as a Data Engineer at an independent Building Society that specialise in savings and mortgages, in a friendly and supportive environment.

As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for deploying, integrating and supporting the reporting suite by creating bespoke MI reporting solutions based on customers' needs or enhancing existing reports and processes. You'll write SQL scripts and stored procedures, create and/or validate pipelines to support service level artifact promotion such as Power BI Dashboards, assist with preparations prior to and during any Technical Design Authority approvals. You'll liaise with users to ensure a full understanding of the operation of their reports and support the ongoing maintenance of low-level design documents for Data Platforms.

This is an exciting time to join the team as they undergo a technical transformation, introducing modern technologies such as Microsoft Fabric and working on a number of new projects.

Location: You can work from home most of the time, meeting up with colleagues in the Epsom, Surrey office once a week.

About you:

  • You have a strong knowledge of SQL server processes and experience of working with complex datasets, integrating SQL with Excel and creating SQL data repositories that could integrate with a Data Warehouse.
  • You have experience in data ingestion (structured and unstructured data) from various sources such as blob storage, excel (and others) to SQL.
  • You have a strong understanding of schema creation for databases, managing permissions and can create data transformations and data pipelines.
  • You have experience with PowerBI and are familiar with Microsoft Fabric.
  • You're collaborative and pragmatic with excellent communication skills, comfortable in a client facing position interpreting requirements into technical specifications.
  • You're able to provide technical guidance.
