Data Engineer (Python Spark SQL) – Newcastle (Onsite) – Up to £70k
Are you a talented Data Engineer with expertise in Python, Spark, and SQL? Join a start-up Investment Management firm in Newcastle, backed by secure funding and with a strong growth trajectory.
In this role, you\’ll help transition the core data platform to Azure, manage third-party data ingestion, and enhance data quality through event streaming. You\’ll work closely with a small, collaborative team in a modern office environment.
Location / WFH:
Based in Newcastle city centre, working full-time (Monday to Friday, 0900-1800) with flexible options. The office offers great views, onsite showers, and facilities for cyclists and walkers.
About you:
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field, with at least a 2.1 from a top-tier university; minimum A A B grades at A-level
- Experience in Data Engineering using SQL, Apache Spark, Python, PySpark, and Pandas
- Knowledge of modern data engineering practices
- Preferred: experience with Azure and Data Bricks
- Enthusiastic about shaping a role in a start-up environment
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills
